Wehrpass from Sept 39 to May 45. Cover damaged.

    Hi All,
A little help would be greatly appreciated please.
I found this among my collection stuffed away in storage! I'm clearing things out after 20 years, reducing to a minimum. I really didn't know what I had with this Wehrpass and to be completely honest I still don't know. The Wehrpass was obviously made wet at some point (before I got it) and the cover has quite clearly suffered. The interior is still in pretty good condition (see scans) and the cover is still attached by the original staples to the body of the Wehrpass – just!
I'm not a Wehrpass man, I have no knowledge of them what so ever so I am asking for advice from those of you who can help me. Is the Wehrpass anything special? I notice it appears to start from day one of the War in September 1939 and continue right through to May 1945!
It is made out to (I believe he was a Major) Gustav Gaigg.
Can anyone tell me a little about the Wehrpass, all I want to do is sell it but I need to know a little about it before I can offer it! (Any rough ideas what it might be worth to offer would also be a help).
(There is a document associated with the Wehrpass (see scan) in the inside pocket of the Pass).
    Thanks in advance,
    Terry.

                Nice document!
It belonged to an austrian musician. He was in the austro-hungarian IR.4 "Hoch und Deutschmeister" in WW1, and then again in the Hoch und Deutschmeister Division in WW2. This unit was destroyed in Stalingrad, but apparently the man survived (as a musician probably he was evacuated well before the defeat) and reassigned to the reformed unit in Belgium (late in the war renamed Reichsgrenadier Division Hoch und Deutschmeister"). In 1944 saw action on the italian front, and then in Austria.
The Wehrpass is a duplicate. Probably the original one was lost when the division Hq felt in the hands of the Russians in Stalingrad.

It depends on what you prefer - however, I think this WP has historical significance.

Gustav was a rather famous musician and a close friend of the composer Franz Lehár

                        Gaigg, Gustav
                        * 23.4.1893 Wien, † 20.1.1985 Wien.

Completely the opposite.....irrelevant of what has been found on the internet how many Stabsmusikmeister documents turn up?

Every Division would have one (or was it one per Regiment?) but they are not particularly common.

The one I have played for Rommel as he was 7 Panzer Division......but mine you would probably say is something special as he wears a Panzer wrap

                          /Ian

I would have said it worths around 100€, not considering the historical background of the owner. Of course the value should be revised after this feature, but of how much? I think it's hard to say, it's a very subjective matter. For me, it's most interesting because the man saw service in Italy; the fact he was a musician(so not a frontline soldier) is not very interesting for me. Of course someone will be more attracted by the rarity of its role, or because he was an austrian, or anything else. Also, someone would pass on it because of the conditions of the cover (the Wehrpaesse are usually in good shape) or because it's a duplicate, when for me these are not big problems. As said, it's very subjective!

sorry. i didn't read the whole but the awards page.
i like musician. its first saw for me for a musician WP,
as Ivan says only one for a division.
i really want to have a musician shoulderstraps and tabs.
                              thanks for pointing the key.
