      Barry,
Great set of Soldbücher. Of course, wish they were mine.

Do you know why Elflein's company was renumbered?

Starting May 1944 III./SS-PzGren.Rgt.1 LAH's companies were renumbered, to be in line with the 1944 SS-PzGren.Rgt's standard, imposed for all Panzer Div of the Waffen SS.

          11.Kp to 9.Kp
          12.Kp to 10 Kp
          13 Kp to 11 Kp
          14Kp dissolved
          15 kp t0 12.kp

All MG Kp were dissolved, 4.Kp,9Kp,and 14Kp.

Thus the II./SS-PGR.1 was renumbered by one and III./SS-PGR.1 was by 2.

I've been on that cemetary last year when my wife and me visited the parents of her in Metz, France.
Kappler is buried in the "Kameradengrab" it says, so he must be listed on one of the stones that lists countless of names instead of one of the small black crosses. I sadly didn't take pictures of those "Kameradengräber" but i wouldn't be surprised if you find someone who took pictures of it.
Google "Deutscher Soldatenfriedhof Sandweiler" or check picture websites like Flickr with the same search.
I can't attach images, but check this picture:

            http://www.worldwartours.be/gallery/...friedhof28.jpg

The black plates in the front is where his name would be listed.

Hadn't seen this topic earlier, Barry, congratulations with your new acquisitions. There was not a lot to be found but overall you should be glad, not everyone found something for the collection there

i saw english and german graves, for the english graves i saw number of block and for the german's grave no indication....
so i saw all german's grave one to one.... and i don't found!! so i make again the same but nothing.
i saw one thing, there is three grave are missing ( see photo) may be the grave of our soldier
i think the database of the volksbund is not up to date may be that the familly repatriated the body.
