    BAOR / Artisan Coy

The following piece of paper is attached on the last page of a Soldbuch I have. It's as large as two Soldbuch pages and folds in the middle, it is attached by means of tape. However, I do not understand the meaning of two terms.
The first one is 'BAOR Engr Trg Est' as can be seen on the stamp. The same abbreviation can be seen below the signature. Any ideas what Allied unit this represents? Possibly American or British?

Second, what exactly is a German Artisan Coy? If someone could give me the correct German term, I believe I will understand it better. The recipient served in a Nebelwerfer unit, but I don't see that related to 'Artisan Coy' (or am I wrong here ?)

    Thanks,
    Laurens

Hi Laurens, the documents are from the British Army of the Rhine (hence BAOR). The unit is Engineer Training Establishment. An "Artisan" is term for a tradesman. Your man was a bricklayer. So the Company would be made up of (I would imagine) differents tradesmen, like bricklayer, electrician, plumber, etc.

The British Army in Germany employed many former soldiers to work on British bases.

        Cheers, Ade.
