    Dog Tag Identification Please

Dog Tag Id. Please. This dog tag looks different to others I have seen, but I know nothing of dog tags anyway. Could anyone help please?
It is 7 x 5cms (2.75 x 2ins) and is in outstanding condition both front and back.
    The inscription reads:

1/ Ers. Batl.Rgt.H.G. both ways up.

Above and below main inscriptions is the number and letter A 449 A

Any help identifying this dog tag would be greatly appreciated - and is it in any way unusual or just standard. I have been asked if I would sell it but I have no idea as to it's value. I know money is a taboo word on WAF but could anyone give me at least a rough idea what I could charge for it. Thanks in advance,
    Cheers,
    Terry.

      Terry,

I have no idea if this dog tag is genuine and if so, what it is value, as I know nothing about Erkennungsmarken, but I can help identifying the unit.

1./Ers.Batl.Rgt.H.G. is the 1. Kompanie des Ersatz-Bataillons des Regiments Hermann Göring. The Ersatz-Bataillon was the replacement and training unit (located in Utrecht/NL) for the Regiment Hermann Göring of the Luftwaffe which finally became the Fallschirm-Panzerkorps HG.

To the time frame: When the HG Regiment rose to Division status in October 1942, the Ersatz-Bataillon became a Regiment. And as this unit was only an Ersatz-Abteilung in 1940 and probably also in 1941, I would say that this dog tag is from the first half of 1942.

      Hope that helps.

If it really was genuine, I would be glad to have it, even if it was "only" a training unit.

      Best wishes,
      Steve
