            Hello,

a good collector friend offered me this interesting Soldbuch, I am very happy with. It is the Soldbuch of Hauptmann Max Loges, he was the commander of the 4./ Grenadier-Regiment 916! So he was also the commander of Wilhelm Prünte, I am very sure they have met each other many times. I am wondering what commands Loges gave to Prünte on D-Day.

A couple of days after D-Day Loges was given command of the whole II./ Grenadier-Regiment 916, he was one of the highest officers in the 352. Infanterie-Division during the battle of Saint-Lô. Loges was wounded at the end of July 1944 in Normandy. I did a bunch of research but that's for later. He is also mentioned a couple times in the book "Normandiefront".

Hope you like these 2 "reunited" Soldbücher.

            Aram

I remember the Loges Soldbuch...not sure if the thread still exists on here but seem to remember he was a poor officer, particularly in battle....evidence came from a book on the unit.

@Ian, indeed. In the book "Normandiefront" he is portayed as an officer who is not suitable for frontline combat and that he was nearly at a mental breakdown! Before Normandy he served as the commander of the 3./ MG-Bataillon 16 on the Channel Islands, a more quiet front.
