    Kriegsmarine Landkommando Wehrpass help

    Hello everyone,

I have been taking a closer look at a Wehrpass that I have had for a number of years.

Here is what I know so far; this chap was conscripted in Austria in June 1940 and took up service in November 1941 in a Kriegsmarine Landkommando flak unit. I believe this unit was based in Langeoog, an island off the North coast of Germany (not far from Bremen).

In November 1942 he received a promotion to (I think) Matrosengefreiter (noted as 'MA Gefr in the Wehrpass). I thought this would make sense seeing as his service record has notes for the Kriegsmarine Landkommando.

In April 1943 he was then awarded a KVK with swords (but no class of award is recorded).

After considering the attached pictures, does all of this seem accurate so far and can anyone add any further detail for me?

Were the Kriegsmarine Landkommando simply land-based Kriegsmarine troops? Troops supporting naval facilities etc?

Have I translated his rank correctly?

Would it be possible to find out more about the 'M.Flak-A.232' that he was attached to?

Is there any way of knowing if he received the 1st or 2nd Class KVK award?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

    All the best,
    Rob.

Am I right to think he was part of the 'Marine-Flak-Abteilung 232'? I did find some unit history here: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...k/MFlakAbt.htm

          Yes, as well as 236 & 266.
M.A.Gefr would mean Marineartillerie-Gefreiter and he would of had the KvK II Kl mit Schwertern. While sometimes awards were missed out the chances are if it was the I Klasse then the II Klasse would of been entered earlier as well.

Thanks Hucks216. That makes sense about the awards.

The last entry of his Marine-Landkommando was starting 14.7.42:

              " 4. Marinefreileitungsbaukompanie".

                Thank you Gerden!

I am not familiar with this term - do you know what it means/translates to?

                All the best,
                Rob.
