    nice old salty book looks like he took a few hits bullets and mortar.and am i right did he get his i a b in ukraine[gorodok]and poland [dubroka]and was it common to change black wound to silver with out extra stamp.as allways thanks for your help

              Hi Doug, nice book, the 9 dates I believe would count towards the award of the close combat badge of which 15 were required. I don't think it was unusual for the wounds badge to be up-graded,in this case it seems it was, but Iam sure I will be corrected if wrong.

                Although I havent seen this before the entry looks good to me, has an authorising signature and stamp stating his position.

                    For what I see is not uppgrading, but awarding the correct grade, I think your soldier was wounded seriousñy and traveled across several hospitals and last decided that the wound was serious enough to receive the Silver grade instead the initial black he received.

                    Interesting piece, for further research can you put a bigger scan of the award entry?
