Infantry Wehrpass help needed

Hi,
Need help with this wehrpass please condition of the pages is as can be seen not to good ,The man appears to be rather old for infantry service is it correct this unit was in action on the western front.

There's infantry and there's infantry. Ott was assigned to a coastal defence division and trained as a stretcher bearer, then stransferred to a hospital, became a medic, then had his medic status revoked and ended up with 'festungs stammtruppen' of the LXXXIX armeekorps in Belgium and Holland.

His war really started with the invasion of Normandy and he died in the Netherlands in oct.44

Interessant document for a man who stayed few years on Normandy coast.
Interressant also is the inclusion on p. 21 who explains that the man is not able to be a "SDG" (nurse) after specific formation in july 43. So he stayed probably Krankenträger (porter). So, his rank is first written Sanität Gefreiter before being to modify in Gefreiter the same day of 1st july 1943. Reason of that is like explained by reference to page 21.

Indeed, that was the most important thing that jumped out at me.

"According to Heeresverordnungsblatt [Army Regulations and Gazette] 1941 – B – Nr. 768, withdrawn from the combat troops (child-rich father)".

It would be interesting to find this regulation to see the number of children "required" to get a man out of front-line service. I believe it may be 5, but I'm not certain.

I'd guess his transfer from Inf.Rgt.731 to a hospital in 1942 was the point he was transferred from a combat unit to a safer job.

Exactly, five children did give him the privilege not be be any more with the fighting troops.
