A D-Day Soldbuch with no Normandy-related entries for EUR 2000. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Just another fine day in the hobby

How about common sense?

This is a "discussion forum" - this is what we do here, we discuss these things. In this case, a members has listed a SB for more than double the market. I'm curious to know what other members think about this. I do not like the price so I not buying it. I put the value in the $600-$700.

I respet you, but he put the price, if nobody is interested or he stop the sale or reduced the price. But we could discuss the originality or not, but he put the price, people´s sense is who will judge it buying or not.

I don't mind when people put their own prices on things, sadly people in this hobby think they know it all when it comes to prices, but in fact we can only guess what the value to someone else may be.

Like when I posted the only SS Bau Plans for a out camp of Ravensbruck - suddenly I was an asshole, and the band wagon commenters said their bit. It was even valued on here for what two of the signatures would sell for on most auction sites.

But at the end of the day thats how much he values it, and it could be that tomorrow its sold maybe someone else seen what he sees in it.

It is rare and its certainly original - there is not much room for discussion really.

It makes more sense for a Normandy collector to give it out if he really wanted it.

I know if it was a raven hot Berlin Endkampf I would consider the price, everyone to their own - there is no set rules, there is no market value, its a piece of history and for the Normandy collector its likely the pride of the collection!

I value units and where the unit was more than any medal earned under a DKiG or RK. Because that is the most important bit for me...

We are all different, that should be celebrated...

The value of an item is given by the amount of money someone is willing to spend to buy it.
Maybe it's not me and it's not you, but probably there is a collector around that can pay big money for a particular object.
The Soldbuch has been sold and very quickly (in one day!), so probably the seller priced it correctly!

I have no problem with a thread like this and I, personally, thought the price was crazy. And, I'm even surprised by John's opinion that $600-$700 is reasonable. So, there is room for this type of discussion. It helps me understand pricing for these types of things as I am not looking at them on a regular basis.

And, the idea that a thread like this could hurt the potential sale is bogus, especially when the argument is made, at the same time, that "value" can be specific to individual collectors. I have, on numerous occasions, bought things for "too much" money because they are exactly what I am looking for. So, the idea that a thread like this could be harmful is contradictory. Collectors want what collectors want - the more unique an item is, the more "market value" loses relevance.

I thought the price was high but, clearly, someone else didn't. Congratulations to Daniele for making a good sale, and congratulations to the new buyer for adding a special item to his/her collection.

I have seen that soldbuch...we are talking about a very very rare soldbuch.

There are so few pieces of soldiers who fought the D-Day, much difficult to find them, so I think the price reflects its rarity.

Said this...everyone can put their own price on the estand, then if too high he will need to reduce it.

Which is the right price for a soldbuch?...Is the market that does the price or sometime is the interest of the collectors that do it?

Never seen, in many years of collecting, an Utah beach SB. I think this is a real Eldorado for every Normandy related document collector so, according to the collecting rules market, it's priceless.

this price is unrealistic for me.
I won't buy those a few entry soldbuch for 2000€, which is about D-Day Utah soldbuch.Is this man really fought in Utah on 06.06.1944?i can't 100% say it.This unit fought in Uta for sure.

If i sell one of my best,i will also do it 2000€+ for a "normal" KZ-Soldbuch.

Agreed. Maybe he was visiting his wife in Germany for her birthday

As for KZ soldbuchs...I rather have a Utah or Omaha or FJR6 soldbuchs anytime.
