Very interesting, Matthias! The stecil-written text is really hard to read because it's so faded out. Maybe the first word at the bottom is "Rückführung"?

    Kind regards, Peter

As you said, Peter - writing's fading pretty bad. I've tried to improve it a little bit with Photoshop but still can't read it.

As the NSDAP stamping reads "Kreisleitung Gmunden" (your country, Peter), the last two handwritten words could be "Gmundener Weg".

Btw., Deimel and his transport made it within 7 days from Patzau (Czech Republic) to Gmunden (Austria) - that's 280 km / 40 km a day!!! With horse-drawn vehicles and 350 heavily wounded soldiers, their families and some nurses!

      Regards, Matthias

Sorry Matthias, I still can't read the text! There was a "Lazarett" in Gmunden, I assume that the wounded should be brought there.

          Kind regards, Peter

Matthias, Thank you for posting these interesting documents of Bernd Deimel. Many years ago I noticed his name in my copy of "Zwölf Jahre 1.Kompanie LSSAH". I saw that his rank was Ustuf. and that he was wounded on 11.7.1941. As I never found an SSO officer file for him or found his name in any promotion orders or EK award lists, I wrongfully concluded that he was KIA on 11.7.1941. Now it appears that he survived his wounding and was promoted to Ustuf. at a later date. I would be interested in knowing his date and place of birth and the dates of any EK awards that you find in his documents. Thanks.

            John

Perhaps someone has an explanation why the Hauptsturmführer and Kompanie Chef signature is missing?

                  Hi Matthias!

Funny detail: the same "problem" on the first page of the Soldbuch (NOT the Wehrpaß in this case) of "my" LAH-man! Although it is a first issue, it never had a signature...

                  Kind regards, Peter

                    Glad to hear that, Peter.
Bernhard Deimels Wehrpass has been carelessly handled in general.
It is filled out very well but nevertheless incomplete on some pages.

Such as his final rank: from the paper shown earlier in this thread I know that he was Untersturmführer in April 1945. His last rank in the Wehrpass is Hauptscharführer.
Or his injuries: I know from the book that he got wounded on 11.07.1941 at "Rollbahn Nord". The corresponding entry is missing but a 1943 wounding was recorded.
Or his battle calendar - it stopped right after the French Campaign.

                    Thankfully his awards are listed.

I'm still doing research with this huge book "12 years 1 Komp. LAH". There is plenty of information and photos of Bernhard Deimel.

The same with my man! I think in the last days of the war a lot of early LAH-members were promoted to higher ranks. In the case of my man his Soldbuch shows the last rank of that of an Obersturmführer d.R., in his Wehrpaß he still is an Hauptscharführer with "suitability for Leutnant d. R.".

                      Kind regards, Peter

                          Hi Matthias!

I still would be very interested in seeing more of this interesting Wehrpaß! How are the chances for that?

                          Kind regards,

                          Peter

                            Hi Peter,

thanks for your interest but I decided to sell the Wehrpass soon and I don't want to "burn" it by showing all pages.

                            Regards, Matthias

                                Hi Peter,

here's the page with his awards. I think the award list is incomplete as he received the medals listed during the French campaign. And continued 5 years of fighting with SS elite units ...
Also page 22 is incomplete as he was UStuf in 1944.

                                Regards, Matthias
