A Soldbuch Entry you won't see often !

    Hi Guys !

I am happy to present you the SB of Siegfried Martin, born 1916 in Quierschied (Saarland). It contains an Entry I encounter for the very first time. For sure not very common !

Wow.... Thanks Jeff for showing another excellent example !

Here is a complete View of the SB. He never hat a Photo, I love the fact he was wounded during the polish Campaign, and also the mention "Liberated from Service 8.5.45". The Unit was the same that Jeff's one, the Gren.Rgt.(mot.) 92, later Gren.Brigade.(mot.)92....

The Gren.Rgt.(mot.92) was created based on "Sonderverband 287", also called "Deutsch-Arabische-Legion". See extract of Tessin thereafter. To be honest, I knew the Insignia being worn by "Sonderverband 288", I ignored the Existence of this "Sonder-Verband 287" and they also wore the arm-Insignia ! How many Soldiers alltogether, that would interest me !

I never had a real Postcard Size Portrait from a Soldier wearing this Insignia.... that would probably be very expensive... Here is one published in various Publications...

............... But by digging in my Photo collection, I found this one, a 9x6cm, with insignia clearly visible on the Lieutenant.... Perhaps thgis Lt.Köpke with signed a couple of time in the SB !
On his right, Oberst Werner von Hillebrandt, Commander GrenBrig.(mot.)92. he was promoted to Gen.Major on 1.04.45 and decorated with the german Cross on 15.12.44

                    Hello,

Lionel : very beautiful presentation of a SB with a little common registration. Happy to put a face on commander of this unit, von Hillebrandt. Here is a document which shows the change of a unit towards an other one, title for the unit So. 287, the stamp GR 92 with the signature of Hillebrandt. Cordial greetings.

Very interesting indeed Lionel. I remember going through this same Soldbuch and wondering if it was perhaps some strange name for the Afrika cufftitle. Won't make that mistake again now!

Nice entry Lionel. And I also see that von Hillebrandt is wearing a Croatian Iron Trefoil around his neck.
