Hello,
There's a extremily large period between the first medals and the last medal. That's possible, but there must be other things in the book that are also dated atleast much longer after 1943. Is that so?
Was he also still at that regiment at the time?( easy to check if the division is correct) You see that especially at the end of the war they change very quick of regiment.(page 4 in the soldbuch)
In my Soldbucher I see that every "Auszeichnung" is stamped of (like the stamp you see), as a prove that it has been checked.
I don't see that here. Not a good sign... I don't think he really gor the EK1. The germans never forgot such things.
Greetings from Holland,
Frank

Hi Doug,
I don't know about this one- look at how alike the letters are and the positioning of the abbreviations in the last two entries... 2 years + later and obviously not done by the same person- and yet they're awfully similar. It sure looks like someone was trying to emulate the previous entry. The ink stamp would be over the original blue entries- can you tell if the final black entry is on top of the stamp or not? Looking at it in reflected light and with a magnifier, you might be able to tell...

Hi Doug,
My thought process was to begin with, from left to right.....
The 4's in the 44 don't not look correct.... The EK script it self looks as if somebody {to me} was try to copy the script about, ironically the last part was squeezed into the top as not to over run the stamp. Similarly the last part again a copy of the above entry but not as clean also the dots placed in between the numerals put be off. As for the signature, well I am sure we have seen hundreds that we cannot decifer, but again I felt it started out as a copy of the above, then just ran away down the page. Now if you see my signature its like a spider in a death throw, but even I can keep it on a straight line .
If my explaination is unclear I will try and copy your scans and still a coiple of arrows in if it helps!!Regards

Doug,
I think we all have some with one or two slightly ify entries in them, quite often a nice SB is slightly ruined with somebody trying to make an extra couple of pounds out of it.
I will dig a couple of mine out.....its not just you my friendRegards
