Hi,
I want to share this one with you!
Its a very strange story and an extremely rare unit commanded by Otto Remer!
The Führer Begleit Brigade was encircled in April 1945 in the famous ''Meadow of Death''
Its mentioned in Spaeter Vol 3 - Covering the breakout from the Spremberg Pocket.
Interestingly, this Soldbuch seems to have been found after the battle in a town called Ressen and handed into the local Vikar - there was around 300 Dead soldiers laying arond after the battle in Ressen.
The Vikar then attempted to find out the fate of Mr Üpping. After correspondence with Mr Üppings wife it was later concluded that he was buried by the local population in a mass grave, because he never turned up alive.
How did his Soldbuch end up being found and handed in is a mystery! But all the paperwork is there to describe the finding, and correspondence after the war.
Came with two death cards and many other bits of related items, also a picture of his fathers grave in WW1.
I also see he was given a Karbiner 43!
If anyone has any more information please let me know, regarding the unit, or any other details. I intend to post this for sale in the coming weeks and want to do a proper write up for it.
Thanks in Advance!
