    Wehrpass entries

    Hello,

    These entries come from a Wehrpass from my collection. It will stay there as the man built a bridge 500 metres from where my grandfather lived.

    He was in a Bautbattalion and got the KVK 2nd class and Ostmedal. He served in Belgium, France and the East.

    I hope someone can help me with these entries; first is one on his Waffen page, I wonder what they wrote with a) and b).
    The purple thing you see on the page is from the previous page. These are adresses from comrades he wrote down in his Wehrpass I guess ... there is also an adress in France.

    Second is his battles page. I recognize some of the written words, but not all. I hope someone can help me out.

    For those kind people who want to help me I also have a larger, more detailled scan: http://users.pandora.be/belgiandetect/wo2/baubattl2.jpg

      (a) seems to be first line construction soldier;

      (b) seems to be second line pioneer.

              Seems to have moved north and been involved in action near Lake Ladoga (Leningrad Front) later in 1943.

              That's about all I can make out from the pictures, but the guy obviously had a busy war.

              Hope this helps.

                Robin,
                That certainly helps, thank you very much

                Still I do not understand the citation on the Waffen page, what did they mean by this ? Are these trainings he took to become Pionier ? If so, shouldn't this be on the Ausildung page instead of there ?

                Also I have one other question; where these men also involved in the battle itself, or did they only come in after the battle to repair the bridges, railways and other stuff ? I guess when they had training on the KAR they could have been of use in the hard battles in the East ...
                He served in 3. Komp Baubatl. 2 and 3./Kp Eisb. Baubatl. 2
