id tag help request

Hi guys,

I am curious about this ID tag, it was found at an estate auction.

I tried to decipher and translate the abbreviations but it doesn't make much sense to me.

I am not sure about the history of the tag or if it can be identified.

Is it a battle damage tag? Lost and damaged in the ground? or even a KIA tag?

It reads "Bau. Pi.Ers.u.Ausb.Batl.11 "
I came up with "Bauten. P1. Ersatz.u Ausbilding. Battalion 11

Which translates to "Build P1 replacement education battalion 11 "

I am hoping to learn a bit about the history of this tag, any ideas?
