            Hi Plainview !

The link to Rgt. 365 essentially says, that this regiment was part of 211. Inf.Div. and that only
in Feb. 1940 the 4., 8. and 12. Kp. were reorganised into MG companies.

This explains also the expression "gemischte Kp.", (pointing to a different type of co. than usual),
as up to that time, in the 3rd wave divs. the s.MGs. were distributed evenly among the 4 companies,
while at that time, the normal German organization was, that all heavy MGs. were
concentrated in the 4th (MG.) co. of each batallion.

            Best regards,

            Archi

I really have a hard time seeing it as being 1./ Inf.Rgt.365

The title suggests it was independent and 'schützen' ?

I'm thinking more along the lines of Landesschützen Btl.365, the companies of which could often operate as independent units.

                  Hello Simon !

In this case I am pretty sure, that the identification is correct.

The Inf.Div. of the 3. Welle were formed/reorganized from the former Landwehr-Divisionen.
(The personnel consisting to a high degree of older men, (similar to Landesschützen-Btls.),
therefore, they had a different organisation in comparison to 1., 2. and 4., etc. Welle-Divs.).

Each 3. wave Btl. would be organized with Stab (KStN 111 (Lw)) and 4 equal companies,
all organized according to KStN 131 (Lw). [Lw = shortcut for Landwehr]
The exact designation of the KStN was : "gemischte Landwehr-Schützenkompanie"

While there are over 20 variants of this KStN 131, the only one for a "gemischte" Schützen-Kp.
is that one (Lw), that was used for these 3. wave divisions.
[If you have access to Tessin, you can check this in Vol. 15 (p.11,12)]

That's why I am rather sure, that this EKM should point to 1./Inf.Rgt. 365.

It would be great of course, if someone has a SB or Wehrpass with an EKM entry to a :
gem.[ischte] Schütz.Kp. which could proof this right (or wrong).

                  Best regards,

                  Archi

Yes, you're right, i should have checked the relevant KStN. One of those completely oddball unit configurations that only lasted a matter of months.
