I was happy to add these two Soldbücher to my Normandy ID collection. The first belonged to Obergefreiter Bruno Karau who served with the II. Bataillon of Grenadier-Regiment 914 of the 352. Infanterie-Division on D-Day and beyond. Karau's battalion engaged members of the 101st Airborne Division on D-Day. Karau miraculously survived the fighting in Normandy and continued to fight with the 352. Infanterie-Division through the end of the war.
The second Soldbuch belonged to Feldwebel Fritz Langkafel, a decorated soldier serving on the Eastern Front before being assigned to the 4. Kompanie of Panzer-Grenadier-Lehr-Regiment 901 of the Panzer-Lehr-Division. Langkafel's name does not appear on the German War Graves website, so I am assuming he was captured by the British early in the Normandy Campaign.
