Wehrpass of a Wehrmacht soldier and meanwhile a Communist Party member

    Hello All,

I would like to share with you this interesting Wehrpass. This man was a member of Wehrmacht, and then in 1945 he joined in the German Communist Party.

Not many entries in his Wehrpass. Could anyone tell us more story about this man?

    Thanks!

    Best,
    Shawn

Well he became a member right after the war, on December 1945.
He was not a communist (at least not oficially) while the nazis ruled.
So I don't think that this is a rare thing. Maybe he was fascineted by the ideal, but maybe this choice was done as expedience to get some advantages like obtaining a job, or a place to live... Being a communist in a soviet controlled area helped a lot at that time!

As Ironcrown touched on....it was probably politically correct to be become a member of the party post 1945! His home was now part of East Germany.
