The unit's origins do lie with Lehr-Rgt zbV 800 but judging by the year shown in the Kriegstammrollen entry (1944) by the time he joined it it was being re-designated into a standard combat unit, in September 1944 becoming Panzergrenadier-Division 'Brandenburg', a sister unit of Grossdeutschland.

      From Lexikon...

FP Nr. 35953 belonged to Stab II u. 5.-8. Kompanie Lehr-Regiment Brandenburg from 20.7.1944.

        The suffix denotes:

        A - Stab II Bataillon
        B - 5 Kompanie
        C - 6 Kp.
        D - 7 Kp.
        E - 8 Kp.
