    SS- Sturmbannfuehrer Rudi Ihrig

    Hello,

Does anyone have any information regarding a SS Stubaf. Rudi Ihrig. According to an Fp. letter that I have he was with 'O.K.W./Chef WKW/B.d.F.' in 1945. Later according to his own letter, he was serving with a regiment in Schneidemühle.

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Besten Dank

    Erich

Rudolf Ihrig: born 8 September 1906, SS # 382,530-- not a member of the NSDAP. Sturmbannführer 30.1.44 (not a commissioned SS officer in December 1937). Sturmbannführer der Reserve (Waffen-SS). October 1944 assigned to SS Führungs-Hauptamt, holder of Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Classes, KVK2X, and an assault badge. His name does not come up in Einsatzkommando or concentration camp officer rosters recently published.

October 1944 SS Dienstaltersliste for above.

        Hi Erich,

What does his FP letter say about Schneidemühle??? That is the village my father is from. My father was last there in Nov of '44 after leave from Italy. The Russians overran the area in Feb of '45 and my father's father was killed by the Russians.

        Regards,

          Hallo FJKomet,

The only thing the letter says is that he is now with a regiment in Schneidemuehle. Nothing more. I would like to find out what SS ( I presume) regiment was stationed there at that time.

(I take it I am writing a reply to Willi Zahn?)

          Besten Dank,

          Erich Craciun

No photos in the Seniority Lists, just one line entries with their numbers etc and dates.

if my memory serves me correctly Scheidemühl was turned into a stronghold (Festung or Fortress) like Breslau and saw heavy combats in February 1945. Several KC recipients are listed being part of Festung Schneidemühl such as
                Owm. Arhtur Iden (KC 10/02/45)
                Oblt. Kurt Bentin (KC 12/02/45)
                Gefr. Eugen Ueltzhöfer (KC 12/02/45)
                Hptm. Hermann Bauer (KC 14/02/45)
Obst. Heinrich Remlinger (KC 30/01/1945) as Kdt. d. Festung
                Regards
                Denis
