Although a minor detail, appears he also earned the wound badge in black.

                    Death card Walter Karl

                    Hello,

there´s a little typing error in the information from Volksbund.de.

                    Geburtsort: Luiz ... isn´t correct

Geburtsort / place of birth is "Linz an der Donau" (you also can see it in the Soldbook)

Here is the death card of Walter Karl

                    Kind regards

It's fantastic to be able to collect such documents
Thanks much oberdonau for this post

However I ask myself a question
the EKII, and two other awards are not present on this soldbuch is it possible that the first soldbuch is lost ?

but yet the soldbuch is bar of red with the date of his deceased
But why the awards are they not indicate in the soldbuch

                        Thank you David

It shows no Wound Badge, even though he was wounded and receive leave after leaving the hospital. It's entirely possible that earned the Silver Wound Badge for that wound and if that were so, often (by regulations) the soldier received the EK II for one wound. Why they are not listed is anyone's guess.

It does show his black wound badge.....I would say they were posthumous awards hence why they are not in his Soldbuch.
Also interesting that he was a Leutnant as the Polizei Division did not have SS ranks at the time.
