    Ludwig Lutzi

    Entitled to: Westwall Medal (7.8.41)
    Born 1917 in Zwingenberg. He served: Nov.38-10.12.41 (KIA) with the MG company of Infanterie-Regiment 115 (Nov.40 renamed Schützen-Regiment 115(mot)) of the 33.Infanterie-Division, Nov.40 transferred into the 15.Panzer-Division. Service: homebased in Darmstadt, Sep.39 based in the Saarpfalz, 1940 active in Belgium and France, from May 41 onwards active in Africa under the German Africa Corps during the battles for Tobruk and Sidi Rezeg. He got severely wounded during the fierce battles after “Totensonntag” Sunday of death, the battle for Sidi Rezeg, by shrapnel (foot and arm) on 25.11.41 and was taken POW by the British, he died on 10.12.41 near Bardia and was buried by the British troops 15 miles southwest of Bardia. Nowadays buried in Tobruk.

                    Nice and interesting grouping Daniele. One can only wonder what the guy went through being captured for 16 days before he died.

                      It may be worth a look through the Official WW2 New Zealand War Histories. These can be found here. Maybe "The Relief of Tobruk." These are extremely detailed as to actions of this part of the War.
