Wehrpass Info please!

Hi All,

I am starting to get a few nice Wehrpasses together,both KIA and not.

This has almost certainly been asked before and if so i apologise in advance.

If the pass is not marked "Gefallen" can one assume that he either survived the war or was a POW! (i know human error can occur).

I recieved letters from the Deutsche Dienststelle on all my KIA passes but is there a site i can find out about guys who did not fall!.

Unless there's some sort of unit manning rosters available, you're not going to find much on "common" soldiers. There will be the odd mention of grunts, but by and large you're not going to find much on them. I'm thinking Google will be your friend, as you might find post-war info on them (for instance, if they became a mayor or judge or some such).

There's a good number of pinned threads above that deal with finding & sorting out info, maybe one or more of those can help.

Hey Ross, probably you have a guardian angel at the DD due it is not so easy to receive infos , since some years, apart you are a relative of the fallen soldier!

In any case try always to contact the Volksbund, they are really helpful and please don't forget to send them sometime a donation due it is a no profit organizations which survives mainly thanks to donations!
