      Hi Merdock,

      We actually already evaluated this particular disc some months ago- I don't recall who exactly was the poster, but I'm sure it's the same one. It supposedly belonged to a Fallschirmjäger (the code number gives the unit), who it was said started out in the Luftwaffe in a different trade (hence the marking on the other side of the disc). It's one of the few examples of a disc being 're-used'- i.e. the new unit stamped on the back of a disc rather than the soldier simply being issued a new one. So the Flieger Regiment unit was this man's original unit, and as I said, the code is his later Fallschirmjäger unit (some of the guys on the FJ Forum have lists and can tell you which unit it was). The 'T' is actually thought to be an indicator that the soldier had been given a tetanus innoculation- it's not a gas mask size.
