    Wehrpass help.

I'm trying to get the proper spelling of this soldiers name and place of birth. it looks to me like his last name is Fuchs. I have tried and thus far have not found him listed in the German War Graves commission site. Thanks Jackboot.

I also had a look in the Volksbund (German War Graves Commission) list and could not find him.

May be he survived the war.

This soldier died during the heavy fighting to take the city of Moscow. I have read where Field Marshal Fedor von Bock Army group center launched a frontal assault from the west near the city of Naro-Fominsk on Dec 1 1941 with heavy losses. This city was then liberated by the Soviets on Dec 26. This is where Fuchs died on Dec 22 1941. Maybe he never received a proper burial or it was obliterated by the Soviets when they took back the city. This was also the winter when there were reported over 130,000 cases of frostbite among German soldiers. Thus the awarding of the Ostmedaille for these extreme conditions with tempatures dropping to as low as 50 below. Jackboot
