It's normal for someone with no awards!

There can be occassions when no award entries are made in the Soldbuch but are recorded in other documents, however if there are not any mentioned you can not speculate as to what he had....only having citations and/or Wehrpaß for example will confirm this.

Also awards can be seen in the photo that are not mentioned, confirming his entitlement to something! (As long as the photo is original that is!!!).

In your case, his units are not front line so chances are he didn't get anything there....Pre SS, perhaps he had something that is not mentioned but no way of finding out at present. He could have won award at the end of the war and there simply was no time to enter it.......who knows?!?!

Perhaps I misunderstood your thread and you refer to the page headed "Orden und Ehrenzeichen"!

This was printed in Soldbuchs from 1942, for SS I am not entirely sure if it was the same date or not.
However, it depends what type they had in stock as to which you were issued....in 1945 they were still using pre 1942 stock....early SS books have the grey cover with SS Runes....later ones (I believe 1944?) were the normal brown Army style covers.

Also some SS troops were issued Army books as SS ones were perhaps not available at the time.

Some books you will find have a pages glued or stapled in by the unit clerk with the heading "Orden und Ehrenzeichen" or "Auszeichnung".
