    Reichsheer Erkennungsmarke

    Hello,

I picked up this Reichsheer Erkennungsmarke for a display. A german friend of mine told me that this was a typical Reichsheer piece. Since it has no unit can a unit, area, Wehrkreis be deciphered from the letter/number sequence? Thank you.

As far as I know no one has been able to track down a method of deciphering these. The Deutsches Dienstelle (WaSt) in Berlin might know, but they are unlikely to tell you unless you are a relative.

      Marke

"The numbers ( between 1 and 100,000 ) were allocated by the Wehrkreiskommandos to the units. From the number series each soldier received an identification tag number which was recorded in the ID rolls of his unit" is all that the reference book Die Uniformierung und Ausruestung des Deutschen Reichsheeres has about details on p. 222. The rolls must be somewhere.

        Thanks Guys!

Right now it is displayed with a photo and Soldbuch of a Reichsheer guy.
