    Mystery Unit in Soldbuch

Hi, I am having a hard time trying to figure out the middle unit in this soldbuch.

On page 17, a GD training unit is listed and it seems to be the same pen that wrote the middle line unit.

The guy was transferred to Infantry Division 214 in the early spring of 1945 and killed in the Halbe Pocket.

I presume it's a short lived unit......can't get to my books at the moment as we are decorating.....

Artillerie-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Abteilung Großdeutschland in Guben, Wehrkreis III.
In January 1945, the Abteilung provided major contributions to the formation of Panzer Artillerie Regiment Kurmark. In February 1945, the Abteilung was used as an alarm unit in Lusatia, where it was almost completely destroyed. In Schleswig-Holstein, the Abteilung was rebuilt. In April 1945, the
Abteilung fought in the Panzer-Ausbildungs-Verband Großdeutschland on the Weser.

Thanks , I think it could be a 1000 or kur. I am hoping someone will recognize the unit even with the heavy line through it. Kurmark would make sense since both were in the same area.

This soldier was killed May 1st by Bad Kummersdorf. He made it out of Halbe but killed trying to make it past the last soviet ring.

I strongly think it is Art. Abt. 100x. The dot over the "1" is something some people did, that's definitely a "1" for me. Not sure on the last digit. Could be 1000 as suggested.

                    Lee,

I believe it could be Art Abt 1065(H.) or Heeres Art Abt 1065. I don't recall ever having seen it written like that but, if you look at the 5 that he made in the stammrolle column you can see how he has the big "swing" down and it looks like you can see the start of that where the 5 would be in 1065. I believe this unit also fits with the area that Art Rgt 234 was in Feb 1945.

This guy left Norway in 1943 and was stationed in Frankfurt/Oder for a year. So he left AR 234 before it came back to Germany.

I have just found that Sturm mörser kp 1000 was redesignated as an artillery unit in January 1945, maybe that fits?

AR 234 as part of the 163 ID left Norway in 1941 for Finland, a little ironic that at the end of the war he gets transferred to another division which had previously been in Norway.

The only reference I can find on that is that it remained the same size but with a name change:

Sturm-Mörser-Kompanien 1000 - 1002 with orders from the 'Führer' on 23.1.1945 were transferred from Panzertruppen to Artillerie and renamed Sturm-Mörser-Batterien 1000 - 1002 accordingly.

Here's a thread about another Soldbuch.....the Ersatz unit does not fit with yours so probably not related to the same unit.
