Is This Half Id-tag Os Ss Polizei Div. A Fake?

Hi friends of the forum. Could any one tell me if this SS Polizei half-id tag is a fake or it seems to be an original one? I've that doubt and I've reserved it in a shop, but I haven't already bought it. Do you think it is worthwhile? Please I need your help as soon as possible.

    Thanx.

    Hi Gernika81,

Unfortunately, I don't have access to my database of fakes at the moment, so I can't directly compare the letters, numbers and Sigrunen, but I have reservations about the ones on this half-disc. Tessin lists an SS-Polizei-Grenadier-Regiment 3, but no SS-Polizei-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 3, so that makes me wonder too.

If you can wait until 1. January, I can tell you for sure if this disc's characteristics match fakes I've seen, and perhaps in the intrim others can suggest reasons why this half-disc is good or bad.

Thank u very much for your help. I think I will wait for your confirmation about the numbers and letters of the id tag. I don't wanna pay for a fake material.

        Hi Gernika81,

Well, I have compared the disc you asked about with the images in my 'fakes' database and while I did not come up with a direct match, I have to say I still don't like the look of this one. So, since I cannot provide any more real evidence than that I alreaday mentioned, this is simply my opinion- I would not buy it myself unless the seller can provide iron-clad provenance for it.

I'm sorry I'm not able to give you a more definitive answer.

        Matt

          In fact Tessin has SS-Polizei-Grenadier-Regiment 3 being renamed SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 9 and not Pz.Gren.Rgt. 3!!

I am not a collector of dog tags but familiar with markings, abbreviations and have encountered numerous variations...however I do not like this one!
