    Soldbuch 916 Gren. Rgt.

    This just came from the proverbial "woodwork"...

    Hauptmann Max Loges. Served in MG-Bataillone 16 (319.ID) and then in Grenadier-Regiment 916 (352.ID)... Grenadier-Regiment 916 unit stamp has been modified with pen, but there is a 352.ID entry on page 8. Award page has been removed.

    He was wounded in 19.7.1944 (Kriegslazarett 4.677? and wound code 31b)

    Loges is mentioned few times in "Normandiefront: D-Day to Saint-Lo Through German Eyes". He was not one of the heroes...

    Any ideas regarding where Hauptmann Loges was on June 6th 1944?

              Very interesting! I have just had a look at he book you mention and it would appear that he should have stayed on the Channel Islands where it was safer for him! I wonder if he was transferred on command or he put in a request to be transferred to a front line unit? Mind you, when he was transferred it was relatively quiet in France at the time anyway.

              There are a few documents signed by him in that book also regarding CC days for Lt. Heinze's Soldbuch! Looks like he signs as Hptm.u.Btl. Fhr or Kdr.

                Also of interest he signs his own Soldbuch on page 15 for the security check as Hptm.u. Kp. Chef.

                  Second time I see a member of 319.ID transfered in 352.ID. Certainly not by chance. Interesting.

                      I haven't received my copy of "Normandiefront: D-Day to Saint-Lo Through German Eyes" yet, but I did receive this information from the forum member "Stormfighter":

                      "Hauptmann Max Loges commanded the 4. Kompanie of the I. Bataillon of Grenadier-Regiment 916. The I. Bataillon was headquartered in Ryes, France, on D-Day and was in the Gold Beach sector."

                      That altered and faint unit stamp on page four seems to confirm this and there is a short thread of this very same unit: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=747389
