Three ID's same man. Romanian Army then SS

I've had these for some time and just come across them again.

First is his Romanian Army Pay Book, then his SS Soldbuch and finally post war ID in four languages.......all ID's having photos.

He served from July 1943 with SS Grenadier Ausbildungs Bataillon "Ost" in action in Ukraine against partisans. He was wounded on 6.1.1944 during the heavy defensive battles of the Zhitomir-Tschudnov area.

After recovery to SS Panzergrenadier Regiment 20 "Hohsenstaufen".

Nice grouping! I like that fact that all three ID's got a photo.
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

That is a very nice set Ian!!

Not sure if his birthplace in the DP Ausweis is spelled correctly. In Transylvania / Siebenbürgen there is a Donnersmarkt (rum. Mănărade) but I find only one listing for a Domers - or Donersmarkt. Probably Donnersmarkt; 60 km Northwest of the Capital of Transylvania Sibiu (Hermannstadt).

        Hi Erich,

Yes he was born in Donnersmarkt, you can see in the Romanian Pay Book under his year of birth 1914, Mănărade.

              Ian,
I also have a Soldbuch for a Rumanian man from Arad who served with the same unit (SS Gren. Ausb. "Ost") during the same time period.

                  soldbuch

Here you go. The guy used a previous ID photo (one required by the SS of foreign recruits) and the cover is actually leather. The Soldbuch is in bad shape so..

                    soldbuch

He was originally with a Totenkopf Rgt. but after being wounded he stated with the "ost" Btl as it changed names and the Ers. and Ausb sections split and then reunited. He earned the Inf.Assault Badge while with this unit.
