Looks like he was treated by Field Hospital 200 (21 Pz.Div) on 14.3.1943 and from there he was transferred by hospital ship to Europe on 27.3.1943.
He would appear to have remained in hospital until 3.3.1944 when he was deemed fit for active duty and returned to Pz.Gren.Ers.Btl. 86.

For sure 27.8.1944 he is back in hospital but that is a Reserve Hospital so he was wounded prior to that date. What is the entry on page 12/13 17.6.1944? Can you show a bigger clearer scan?

Looks like he probably remained in hospital then until March? Then April until the end of the war......Gold wound badge but not for 5 wounds so probably a nasty wound!?!?!?

Also, I see no evidence that he was promoted higher than Unteroffizier.

            Ian,

One more question. Up until leaving Afrika, I believe he was always serving with 10th Pz Div. Upon returning to Europe, we both noted he was deemed fit for service on 3.3.44 with Pz.Gren.Ers.Btl. 86. Since the 10th Pz Div was lost in Afrika a year earlier, which regiment or division did it support at this point? I'm trying to understand who he was with at this time since he was wounded again in mid '44 as we said.

We know he later went to Pz Gren EuA 215 and Pz Gren Rgt 128 with the 23rd Pz Div.

Looks like Luftwaffen Orts Lazarett but I can not make out where at the moment, or the illness/wound!

Believe or not but Pz.Gren.Ers.Btl. 86 provided replacements to 23 Pz.Div. after 10 Pz.Div's demise.

Interesting, thanks Ian. And thanks for the info on the 86 Ers Btl providing support to the 23rd Pz Div after the 10th. Fits right in line with the progression to 215 Ers Btl.

I have been working on a revised timeline to include Division and Location info (almost done). Before doing so, do you have a guess as to what this wound entry is for and also what this entry is for in the pay section? i have blown them up here.

The illness is Wolhynisches Fieber - Trench fever (from the Volhynian marshes, Russia).

Don't forget Werhsoldgruppe 15 was the same for Gefreiter and Obergefrieter.....also Schützen that had done at least 6 years.

Also, have you checked the Felpost numbers?
