Wehrpass invasion in Holland at my hometown

Helle gentlemen,

Just bought myself, from the E-stand (thanks a lot Floris ), this very interesting Wehrpass of a soldier who, in May 1940 crossed the border with Holland at my hometown Roermond as part of the Panzerjäger Abteilung 31 of the 31st Infanterie Division. I've been looking for a long time to find Wehrpässe and/or Soldbücher related to Roermond so I am glad the search finally resulted in this nice filled in Pass.











I also have two questions: can someone translate the wound listed on Page 34 registered at 28-2-42? And the EKII entry is mentioned above the Black Wound Badge which was registered prior to the EKII. Did it happen more often that there was not a chronological order of award entries?

Hope you guys like it as much as I do! Not every day you can find such an interesting Wehrpass linked to the invasion of your own country and especially your own city

That said, others who also have Roermond related Wehrpässe and or Soldbücher please get in touch!

I can help you (we are about 400 km South from Rimini!) only for the injury of May 11, 1944 ... we are in beginning of the "Diadem Operation" (fourty and final battle of Monte Cassinio) ... the memories of the 71 ID reported a Allied heavy bombing started at 23.00 of May 11, 1944: all the artillery of the 71 ID were in Castelforte and Monte Maio .... a map...

Thanks a lot Mufasa! I actually have been to Rimini myself as well some years ago Thanks also for posting the map which tells a bit more about his wound from May 44. Interesting to get pieces of the puzzle back together of the whereabouts of the soldier!

I do came across two more questions now and I hope to get some info on this.

On page 22/23 he is promoted to Unteroffizier on December 1st 1944
Below that promotion another promotion is entered which dates January 1st 1944, so prior to the previous promotion. He is here promoted to R.O.B. Unteroffizier (?). Can anyone explain what this is and why the dates are not in chronological order? Is it the same case as with the Orden und Abzeichen that dates can be mixed due to clergy "errors" or due to just filling up gaps?

Furthermore he is promoted on August 1 1945!!! So some months after the war. Is this common at all? And can anyone read the new rank he was promoted to? I haven't seen this any any WP I have in my collection.

Nice Wehrpass, the soldier was also just near my hometown !

p.33 : "9-12. 6.40 : Vernichtungsschlacht bei Dieppe u. St-Valery" (where the 51st Higland division was encircled and destroyed)

The rank is Fahnenjunkerunteroffizier and the date looks like 1st of May, 1945.

Thanks a lot guys. I agree the date May 1st makes more sense. I guess I was confused because the 5 in the year 45 is written totally different.
