                  Hello Giel,

Führer geschenk was most often a parcel containing various food goodies ect...issued to servicemen going back to Germany on home leave from the front. When received the appropriate entry was usually stamped into the Soldbuch.

                  Regards

I have serious doubts about the validity of the EK1 entry. I believe it could well be faked.

I don't like it either. Sorry
Don't believe everything you read on the internet, that's how WWI got started.

Actually I'll be honest. I don't just have my doubts - it's a sure fire fake entry. I can't see the promotion entry very well but it doesn't look too good. Doug - are there any unit entries?

                            The entry is fake because:

                            1. The ink is suspiciously modern.
                            2. The handwriting is a poor modern attempt to look old - it's too forced and does not 'flow'.
                            3. The entry (29.4.45) has been inserted between an award entry dated 5.8.42 and another relating to pay dated 31.3.44.
                            4. Every other entry has been individually stamped...the EK1 has been inserted underneath an existing stamp to give it validity.
                            5. The pay entry was inserted below the authorising stamp for the Ostmedaille. This however left two lines free - the faker (and I believe it's one person in particular or at least a small group) has wasted no time in seizing the opportunity to give a fake award a bit of validity.

The inserting of fake award entries under existing stamps or alongside original award entries is the faker's most common attempt to deceive. If they use bogus stamps and award entries they sometimes also put a fake wound or promotion entry in with the same handwritting and the same (usually smudged) FP bogus stamp. This is an attempt to give an award entry some sort of validity. It's a great pity as they are ruining original WPs\SBs just to get a few more £'s.

I have lots of examples of this culled from the internet - dealers sites, auction sites, items I've scan before returning to the seller. Would you like to see a few?

Doug - who was this bought from and did you pay EK1 prices?
