    Flying ambulance group

Picked up this group recently to a not often seen unit. Joachim Schroder saw action with two units in particular Kurierstaffel 7 and Sanitäts Flugbereitschaft 17.

The latter were essentially flying ambulance units, primarily Ju. 52, which ferried wounded soldiers from front line areas to rear area dressing stations.

I have only seen one other group to these ambulance units and that is a Soldbuch that I own (formerly part of Ian J.'s collection).

    Enjoy

    Jeremy

      .

      Service and his loss.

Sanitäts Flugbereitschaft 17 did not record any losses due to enemy action on that day so likely he was lost prior or returning.

                  Interesting Jeremy,

I have just gone through the losses for that day and nothing fits...or is not recorded unfortunately.

Yes a mystery I can only imagine, as you noted the loss was not recorded.

I always enjoy seeing the Luftwaffe documents and paperwork additions which you add to your collection!

An excellent grouping and a very rare unit indeed. Is there much source information published on Sanitäts Flugbereitschaft 17?

Hopefully, you might be able to nail something down concerning his demise.

                      Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

                        Thanks Richard

Limited unfortunately . The Colours series has an issue on Luftwaffe support units and I found a bit more on web searches but in general pretty thin.

Ian, sorry for off-topic, but where can I find this Lw loses daily list? I'm trying to find information on FW-189 which emergency landed close to my place in august 1944. A friend of mine found DKiG in place where the pilots were burried and later exhumed in 50-ties. I'm tring to sort out who this guy was.

This is the first air-Medevac set I have seen. I am totally in love. I am saddened to hear that he did not make it though. I would kill for this one in my collection. Nice set.

A lot of the data base I have on my pc so if you have the rough date I can check for you.
                              I will check August 1944 now for a FW-189.
