    Soldbuch Ardenne KIA

I Havent posted here in a while so here we go...

This is the Soldbuch of Theodor Glatt, 19 years old , Got enlisted and was sent to OB WEST in the Heeres Flak Abteilung 318 where with his flak Cannons shot down 2 Mustang Fighters on the 9th of May 1944 as we can see from a note written by his Batterie Führer.

He was then Transferred to the Front after his unit was disbanded, to the Panzer Artillerie Regiment 74 of the 2.Panzer Division During the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes on December 1944.

The 2.Pz.Div. was the Division that managed to reach the furthest point in Hitler s last attempt to change the war on the West Front.

During the attack the division stopped in NOVILLE and attacked FOY on the outskirt of Bastogne where the 506 PIR of the American 101st Airborne Division stood his ground. In that unit defending the Area there was also EASY COMPANY(Band of Brothers).

The 2.Panzer Division then moved further and on the 24th of December 1944 until their Advance was Stopped in front of DINANT by the 29th British Armoured Brigade and by the American 2.Armoured Division.

On the 24th the Americans counter Attacked and probably during the artillery Bombings Theodor was mortally hit by a Shrapnel piece in and around his heart
Where he carried his soldbuch piercing it completely and staining it with his own blood.

The Soldbuch was found in Theodor Glatt s Town where he was born inside a wine cellar.Maybe it was sent to his parents and then left there somehow or maybe a Kamerad picked it up and wanted to give it back to the parents but never managed to find them...hard to say...

Today Theodor Rests in Peace in the German war Cemetery in LOMMEL ,Belgium.

                    Great SB, Daniele!
And what a sad piece of history..
A lot of BotB KIA Germans are buried in Lommel.
Also those Skorzeny agents who got captured in US uniforms.

Btw, if you ever want to part with this one...drop me a line.
