It's interesting that he served in the Hauptquartier (Headquarters) of Befehlshaber Slowakei (Commander-in-Chief of Slovakia):

                Hi Dan and all !

Very interesting pictures, Soldbuch and career. Thanks for sharing !

Some additional links that might be of interest :
Your father in law very probably was drafted in Sept. 1938 and received his basic training with 19. Inf.Div.
With this division he made the campaigns in Poland and France :
                http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...ionen/19ID.htm

This infantry division was reorganized in Nov. 1940 into 19. Panzer-Division :
                http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...nen/19PD-R.htm

                19. Pz.Div. fought at Bialystok, Welikije Luki and near Moscow in 1941. In 1942 it fought
at Juchnow and in the Shisdra area. Around the 20. December 1942, the division was sent south and
played an important role to relief the trapped garrison at Millerowo and stabilize the front afterwards.
For these actions he received the EK I in March 1943.

According to the weapons Pz.Jg.Abt. 19 was equipped with :
In 1939/1940 his unit was equipped with the standard 3,7 cm Pak. In Jan. 1941, each co. received one platoon
                of 5cm Pak. In mid 1942 the Panzerjäger-Abteilung 19 received 12 Marder III (7,62) for 1. and 3. company.
(I think that is what is shown in the picture). Later in 1942, the 3. co. was equipped completely with Sfl.
For more details see here :
                http://forum.panzer-archiv.de/viewtopic.php?t=8769

Sometime later in 1943 he was sent to Pzjg.EuA-Abt. 13 (located in Braunschweig). Typical reasons
could be an injury or because he became a trainer there :
                http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...bwAbtErs13.htm

At sometime in 1944 (?!) he must have been transferred to the HQ of "Deutscher General in der Slowakei".
This was some kind of military attache, acting as miltary advisor for the training of and for procuring
equipment to the Slowakian Army. A short overview, with names of Generals, can be found here,
(please click on : Entstehungsgeschichte) :
                https://www.archivesportaleurope.net.../RH31-IV-42283

His final appointment was probably as a teacher at the "Schule für Heeresmotorisierung", where he
presumably held courses for Schirrmeister candidates. Schirrmeister was an equivalent rank to
Feldwebel, but with special capabilities and training. He had to care for all sorts of equipment of a unit.
A Schirrmeister(K) would be the administrator of everything related to motorized vehicles (Kfz in German).
(not sure on a correct translation of this : quartermaster sergeant, harness keeper ... ?!).

You find several photos of the buildings of the "Schule für Heeresmotorisierung" here :
                http://www.sachsenschiene.net/bunker/tup/tup_84.htm

I can post his memoirs for anyone if they care to read
It would be really great, if you could find the time to post those (or some excerpts) !
Page 3 of the Soldbuch could be interesting as well.

                Cheers,

                Archi

Please do, this is an interesting piece of history and family history.

If you have some of his medals, especially the general assault badge, I would be interested to see that as well.

                          Thanks for sharing, very interesting

I would be interested to know what is written in his memoires or letters etc. about may 1940. Parts of 3./Pz.Jäg.Abt.19 were attached to the Vorausabteilungen B, C and D of 19. ID on may 10th while marching into Holland.

And is there any intell on Olt. Willekens, Wunderlich, Lt. Freiherr v. Korff or Lt. Henke ??

                          Best regards,

                          Yp
