Hi!
I'm not an expert so maybe I'm getting something wrong.
According to the first page of the Soldbuch he was promoted to Untersturmführer on 20.04.1945.
On page 21 of the Soldbuch he is released on 01.05.1945 with the rank of Oberscharführer der Reserve and according to his POW property envelop he is Obersturmführer.
Is this possible?
Best Regards
Christoph
I think these registrations are old modified, for example in the discharge document from the military service, he is a lieutenant in the Luftgaubezirksstelle Dresden / Stabsnachrichtenkompanie 7/120
I think there was his SS affiliation and his career veiled?
even a photo of the back of the certificate of discharge
I'd maybe guess all the type on that release document is post war. Or just coincidence his real rank is blocked out?
And what's with the photos - apart from the chevron Naxos mentions he appears to have more medal ribbons that he is 'officially' entitled to (whichever way you look at it).
As for amending dates - I've often written the wrong year, i.e. the previous one, in the first week in January. I'd have to be seriously confused to type a year that is three years in the future. Twice.
I have also seen, I have the picture indeed in hand
it is a postwar deduction
However, there are many images that were so retouched, even in wartime
Here again, the back of the photo without hat ... he was in November 1944 still Sturmmann
One of the fieldpost service letters has the address:
8. Preparation course for invalids SS leader Bad Toelz-SS Junker school
stamp 3.6.1945 can have there skipped so many service ranks?
I look forward to further useful comments, a very stimulating discussion, thanks
