I'm far from sure but the signature might be that of Heinz Fontana who won the Ehrenpokal on 5th June 1943.
Larry de Zeng & Doug Stankey's LW Officer Career Lists has Fontana with IV/TG-4 in October 1943 but with nothing else listed after that so it is possible that he was reassigned to TG-1. I also have his signature in a Wehrpass to a member of aircrew in 3./TG-1.

Although his signature appears for entries dated 1943 I believe this is a case of the entries being either added later, or the entries being added at the time but then signed later on in the war during a moment of admin catch-up.

I'm with Paul. How would he earn these awards when he is in Nachrichten units and schools?

I guess he could have got the EK 1 & 2 for testing the Beethoven-Gerät (Mistel) or some other research such as mistletoe????

PS can anyone just verify the spelling of his name

                          11 (Flugsicherung) Kompanie, Luftnachrichten-Regiment 1

I am a little confused as to why he would have EK's in the role he had, also why he became a pilot as to me he did not have pilot training but was at pilot training school when crew training as a wireless operation!?!?!?

To be honest I saw this for sale somewhere recently and dismissed it........

Thanks Ian, glad its not me...... but (IMHO) all the entries look kosher.....?

To be honest when I first saw it I didn't like any of the award entries so didn't take it any further.

Now, if the signature is correct as Kev mentions then they are ok......however this puts Fontana with I/TG 1 in May 1945.

I can not see anywhere where he was trained as a pilot.....so if the pilots badge is bogus, so is the Wireless operators.....he is of course entitled to the latter badge but they are both entered in the same hand!

Page 21 only deals with Bordfunker courses!

                              /Ian
