I have had this for a while and thought I would show it here.

Soldbuch and Pionier Steuermannschein to Gefreiter Franz Gotschi of Pi. Btl 111 and Pi Btl 272.

Gotschi Zweitschrift of his Soldbuch was issed in Magdeburg (Pionier Schule) on 26.6.1944 by his replacement unit Pi Ersatz Btl 4. At the same time he was issued / earned his Pi Steuermannschein for Sturmboote.

On 15.5.1944, Gotschi was wounded by schrapnel in his left foot and a light concusion. He was treated and returned to his unit on 5.6.1944.

I am assuming that he was then transferred back to his unit which was in heavy action in Normandie where he won the EK 2. Klasse on 12.8.1944 somewhere around Falaise(?)

Nice docs with very rare pionier document ! But I don't think he was in Normandy : look the Bescheinigung of his Beförderung at p. 3 : in mid august, he was in Pio. Ers. u. Ausb. Batl. 4. No trace of 272.ID during sommer 44. In fact, he was probably sent to this division in october, during its refit in Döberitz training camp.
The EK 2 was like the VWA given for his previous fight with 111.ID in Russia.
It doesn't matter, it's an interesting group !
