    Soldbuch/ Wehrpaß Question

I'm curious if any of you Soldbuch/ Wehrpaß collectors out there might have one that belonged to a soldier whose Erkennungsmarke was:

'Jnf. Pz. Jäg. Ers. Kp. xxx'
'Jnf. Pz. Jäg. E. Kp. xxx'
'Jnf. Pz. Abw. Ers. Kp. xxx'
    'Jnf. Gesch. Ers. Kp. xxx'
    'J. G. Ers. Kp. xxx'
    'Jnf. Pi. Ers. Kp. xxx'
    'Jnf. Nachr. Ers. Kp. xxx'

or any unit that was 'Jnf. --- Ers. Kp. xxx' (of course the 'J' is an 'I'). I'm interested in what the first units soldiers from these units were posted to.

    Thanks guys.

    Matt

Ian, if you don't mind, could you post which field units they went to?

        Hi Chris, Matt

Here we are, most Ers.Kp. were based in the same location as the Inf.Ers.Rgt., so it is safe to assume that they came under these units for administration. However in the case that an Inf.Ers.Rgt. does not exist in that location they were allocated to the nearest Inf.Ers.Rgt.

        I.G. Ers.Kp.255. - Löbau, Wehrkreis IV - Infanterie Regiment 382, WK IV
        Inf.Gesch.Ers.Kp. 211 - Köln-Mülheim, WK VI - Infanterie Regiment 107, WK XII
Inf.Pz.Abw.Ers.Kp.24 - Chemnitz, WK IV - Infanterie Regiment 515, Döbeln, WK IV
Inf.Pz.Jäg.Ers.Kp.112 - Saarburg, WK XII - Artillerie Regiment 185, WK XII
Inf.(Pz.Abw.)Ers.Kp.71 - Hildesheim, WK XI - Panzer Regiment 203, WK XII
        Inf.M.G.Ers.Kp.454 - Düsseldorf, WK VI - Infanterie-Regiment 454, WK VI
        Inf.Nachr.Ers.Kp.5 - Mühlhausen, WK V - Divisions Bataillon 268, WK VII
        I.Nachr.Ers.Kp.269 - Delmenhorst, Wehrkreis X - Infanterie Regiment 65, WK X

              Gary,

Could you do the same as Ian and post their first field units?

And dphillipsd could you do the same for Inf. Pi. Ers. Kp. 52? The other two aren't the same format, as they have a kompanie designation and a battalion designation.

              Cheers!

                Matt,

I'm not sure, but I think just looking over Ian's I am getting a bad impression of our "work"

                  Chris,

Will do, just give me some time as I've taken these from a database. It'll take me some time to dig the WPs out.

Generally however the signals men will find themselves in the Stabs of infantry regiments and batallions, the IG men in the 13./ Kp's of Inf Regt's, the Pz Jg in 14./ Kps and the pi's in the regimental pionier platoons. Usually the replacement unit number is the divisional number.

I also have three to men whose Erkennungsmarke is prefixed Inf. Ers. Reiter Zuge - you want me to include these as well?

                  Cheers,
                  Gary.

David- do you mean that these are 3 you have, or that one of the first two was posted to Stabskompanie Inf. Ers. Batl. 18?

I'm actually looking for the first field unit these men were posted to- your 8. Schutz. Ers. Komp. 471 and Inf. Pi. Ers. Kp. 52 are definitely what I'm looking for.

If it's not a lot of extra trouble Gary, sure.

Yes....I can check Tessin to see if there is any other reference.....soemtimes if you look under the location it will give you other units that were in that town that are not listed under Rgt., Btl., Abt. etc.

That's okay Ian- I have access to Tessin too, and the VMD CD-ROM and a copy of The Replacement Army- I just wanted to know if you were using a primary source or not. I'll always take a primary source over one of these compilatons

                            Thanks!

Okay- Ian, just to be sure I have this clearly:

Information taken from a Soldbuch/ Wehrpaß in your collection:

                              I.D. Tag: Inf.Pz.Abw.Ers.Kp.24 Nr. 352
Date and Unit: 9.1.-26.2.1940 Infanterie Panzer Abwehr Ersatz Kompanie 24, <ST1Chemnitz.

Information taken from a reference (e.g. Tessin):

</ST1Infanterie-Ersatz-Regiment 24, formed 26.8.1939 in Chemnitz, WK IV. 3.8.1941 transferred to Prague.
                              Structure: 1940: Inf.Ers.Btl. 102 Chemnitz, 394 Freiberg, 456 Freiberg, 475 Döbeln.

                              Correct?
