    Interesting Soldbuch/Dogtag

Just took some quick photos, didn't feel like setting up my scanner right now

Anyway, this is a soldbuch/dogtag group I got last summer.

First off, I find it interesting, as a tag collector, because of the tag itself. No bottom hole or slits through the middle. The bloodgroup stamping is crossed out twice - once the "O" is scratched out, then stamped with an "B", then the "B" is scratched out and stamped with the now apparent "A".

It shows good wear around the holes that are apparent, but take a look for yourself with this crappy image I took!:

Ok, so now we look at the Soldbuch. I won't bore you, so I just took photos of the first page. Interestingly enough, he ended up serving G.Regiment 959, which if I am not mistaken served in Normandy. Neat.

Anyway...On the first page, what struck me as odd, but consistent with the tag is the Blutgruppe! a, scratched out. B scratched out, A scratched out, then A!

Then, it would look as though this book was originally made out to someone else? I can't read any of this crazy German script though. This obviously makes the rest of the book pretty hard for me to read too. Probably lots of interesting stuff I don't understand in it (the book is crammed full of stuff!), but I will post that stuff sometime in the future and ask for some help

Anyways, here is the image of our friend Georg (or so I read... )

I thought it would have been a bit more reminiscent of later tags used in the first world war, no?

          Hi Chris,

What strikes me first about this Soldbuch is that it has the wrong cover on it! i.e. As you say it is made out to someone else!
I have seen a few of these over the years that have come from Russia which had the wrong cover to the Soldbuch and obiosusly a photo of someone else!!

If/when you feel like setting up you scanner can you post a larger image of the scan fo the Soldbuch?

Need to verify it the photo is actually him and the unit stamps over the photo match up with the unit stamps in the rest of the Soldbuch!

What name/signature is written on page 2 and 5, is it Koch or Behrendt?

I do actually have a couple myself where they have made the Soldbluch out to the wrong person and later struck through the entries...typically name, date of birth or Wehrnummer!

          Cheers, Ian

            Ian,

Both signatures on page 2 and 5 are from Mr.Georg. Did you make out his last name being Koch?

Sometime this week I will scan some pages for you and add them to this thread. What pages would you care to look at? I can do them all if need be

Oh, and what sort of cover should be on this soldbuch?

            Chris

              Chris,

If you say it is made out to Georg Koch then that is not a problem ....the FP Nr. or unit stamps on the photo should match the rest of the book somewhere.....
As mentioned I have seen this before where for some reason the Soldbuch contents and the cover have been to two different people and someone has put them together in error!
I know of one such case on a dealers site at the moment!

              /Ian

                Ian,

Here is a scan of the first, second and third pages. None of them are too close, as the forums won't let me have larger images

I can crop them if you want!

What other pages are of interest here? I have them all scanned, just don't know what they all say!

It looks as if the Administration Unteroffizier made the book out first to Bernhardt on the first two pages then corrected himself.

                        Interesting - show more.

Page 1 and 2. Notice how the one name, birthdate, birthplace, ect. are crossed out?

Ah, yes I know what you mean, but my comment was referring to your "Show more" request!

I have all the pages scanned, but which ones would be of interest for you to see?
