Last weekend I managed to score another sniper Soldbuch, this time to an Unteroffizier Neumann, who served mainly with railway radio units.
Neumann's Soldbuch was started in December 1939. He served in a large number of specialized railway radio and pioneer units. This includes the Eisenbahn-Fernsprech-Kompanie 11, the Eisenbahn-Fernsprech-Kompanie 151, from 1942 renamed to Eisenbahn-Fernsprech-Bau-Kompanie (mot) 151, and on D-Day 1944 renamed to schwere Blankdrahtkompanie (mot) 151. Neumann was promoted four times up to Unteroffizier, and was awarded the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern, and the Ostmedaille. Nice equipment entries in the Soldbuch including summer equipment (Sommerrock, Sommerhose, Moskitonetz, ...), his privately owned Mauser pistol, a French S.A.C.M. pistol, and then of course the sniper entries: '25 Schuss G- (= Gewehr) Munition', '30 Schuss Munition', and especially '50 Schuss S.S. (= Scharfschutze!) Munition', later changed to 100 shots!
No indications that he attended sniper school, and his units look a bit exotic, but not the kind I would expect to have snipers. Any info on his unit would be appreciated!
