    My Opa sent this postcard 13 day's before he died,
    can you tell me anything about the Feldpostnummer??
    Have I read it correctly (11 367 A) ????

          Having followed Ian Jewison's advice I contacted the Deutsche Dienststelle

          (WASt) and 5 months on I have received a letter from them, you were correct
          Chris Stewart it was'nt I.R.E. kp 58. It was I.N.E. kp 58 (Infanterie-Nachrichten-
          Ersatz-Kompanie 58)
          From what I can gather (my German not being very good) they were unable to
          find any personal papers for my Opa. I will post the letter here in hope that
          someone might be able to translate something that might help in my search for
          information about my Opa.

                    Well here goes.....there might be a few mistakes if I can not read the letters corretly!

                        For going to the trouble of translating for me.

                        As for the town Aksinjkino in Russia I have searched many maps and have not
                        been able to find it, would the German spelling be different to that of the
                        Russian???

                          Hi Jules,

                          I'd think that the only difference in the town name that would come about by it being in German would be the 'j'- we'd probably spell it 'Aksinykino' in English.

                          Earlier in the thread, you wrote that it was said that Aksinykino was 18km south of Kalinin- and although there appear to be a LOT of 'Kalinin's in Russia, according to the WASt letter, your Opa's unit was in the area of Rshew in 12.1941, so it must be near there too, and there's only one Rshew. If you've looked in this area on maps, either they're not detailed enough, or maybe the place doesn't exist any more...

                              If you look at this map (http://www.percy.clara.net/maps/ussr.jpg) you will see that Kalinin is NW of Moscow. Maybe that can give you a starting point for further research?

                                I think that is the right Kalinin but I cant find a map that goes into enough
                                detail 18km south of there, Aksinjkino must have been a small village.
