Struggling with Units

Guys,

Got a WP today to a infantryman.

He started with 3 coy Inf Replacement Bn 472 early 1940.

He goes East to the Ukraine with 1 Coy Landschutz Bn 560 1941 to early 43.

Another change to Stallag 348 until Apr 43.

Then I have an entry with ???.???. Staffel VIII.

May sees him with 3./Sammelstab Gorlitz, I can't find this anywhere, Collection HQ, whats that all about?

June is again unreadable but appears to have a double barrel name again ending in staffel VIII?

July sees him with I assume a marine unit? 2.(M.)/ Gren.Ers.u.Ausb.Btl. (mot) 51

Aug with ?????? ?all.z.b.V.Pztr.175

He is then killed 7 Sep 43 with 3.Pz.-Gren.-Rgt.110.

Any help gratefully recieved.

I am a cheap skate and unable to post pics.

Ignoring the fragments then any idea about the Sammelstab Goerlitz or the possible Marine unit, does (M) infact mean Marine within the unit abrevition which is luckily an ink stamp so able to read it clearly?

Or am I off at a tangent?

Normaly I can find it on Lexicon but no luck with this.

sammelstab görlitz is just an adhoc staff receiving troops\recruits for further dispatch to another unit, in his case grenadier E.u.A btl. 51, which was also stationed in Görlitz and no it wasn't a KM unit, just a regular infantry training and replacement depot unit.

2.(M.)/ Gren.Ers.u.Ausb.Btl. (mot) 51 in this context would refer to the Company.
I would say in this case it would be 2 (Marsch) Kompanie - 2nd (Transfer) Company.

I think the "M" in this case didn't stand for anything, just a designation of the Kompanie as it was also attritbuted in the Feldpost numbers of this specific Bataillon: 1. Kompanie was 'L', 2. Kompanie 'M', 3. Kompanie 'P'. See http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...ErsBat51-R.htm

Tim I am threaders with myself for not finding that in Lexicon.

I was perhaps trying to read too much into it, it is stamped in exactly as I have transcribed it, it would be interesting to see if any of the other companies out there carried the Feldpost character in their unit titles?

Its not the FP Nr. suffix.....I have a group to a guy who also served with this unit and he was with:

1.(Gen.)/ Gren.Ers.u.Ausb.Btl. (mot) 51

Which is 1 (Genesenden) Kompanie or 1st Convalescent Company.
