    Militärpaß for Stadtinspektor Wortmann

    Good day

I'm afraid I know nothing about these.

This is an imperial Militärpaß for a career soldier who seems to have served in WW1 and been awarded an EK2 before joining the police.

    Are these collectable?

    Many thanks

    James

This appears to be an enlistment document and another document from the Nazi era for Stadtinspektor Wortmann. What is this awarding him for?

All comments greatly appreciated - this is a great learning experience for me.

EK2 award document and another Nazi era document. Again what is this for.

All fo these are glued into the Militärpaß so it appears to be a very comprehensive document.

Why do you think he joined the police? After his service in WW1 he was "Stadtinspektor", City

Inspector, which is a civil profession in a city office. In his WW1 Wehrpass his profession at first

was "Bureau - Gehilfe" (Office assistant) but this was cancelled and replaced by "Kassenassisten"

        a(ssistand at the local fund).

The first document from 1906 is a proof of good conduct (Führungszeugnis). He served from

          9.10.1906 - 25.9.1908 as a Musketier with the 6.Kompanie 7. Lothringischen Infanterie Regiment

158 in Paderborn. His conduct was good.

The next document is a certificate that he was awarded with the "Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer"

(7.3.1935) and the next one is the certificate for "Verwundeten Abzeichen in schwarz (black)"

(30.6.1936) and the last one for the EK 2. Klasse awarded by the Reserve Infanterie Regiment 55

          (Febr. 1916).

I made the assumption that Inspektor was a police rank as it is in the UK. So he was just a functionary. How disappointing.

Many thanks Gerdan for your replies.

            All the best

From 25.5.1916 - 18.4.1917 (nearly one year) he was hospitalized in different hospitals but

cannot find the exact reason. We know that he was woundet because he was awardet the

Verwundetenanbzeichen in schwarz but we do not know details.
