.Hats off. It was a real pleasure to read through this thread. I really enjoyed it.
We might consider us "very lucky" that we have the privelege that most of all happened on our continental. This makes the research for us more interesting then you will ever find in books and others will never experienced. Today i spoke with a man from our village, who lost his brother during the war who served in the waffen ss in the Ruyter regiment. After reading his brothers letters it was a very sad story on it's own. His brother never returned and is still mia. During the conversation it turned out that we had some family relations in the past. Funny because one of my grandfather's fought as a German in the Dutch army on the Grebbenberg.
