SOLDBUCH TDB / Endkampf BERLIN april 1945 !

Hi Guys. I am happy to share with you one of my last Finds. This 20 years old Soldier was promoted as a Lieutenant Febr.1st 1945 after Sessions in different Schools like Krampnitz and Panzertruppenschule Bergen. He was then transferred to the III./G.R.90 (mot) (20.Pz.Gren.Div.). With this Unit, he took part to the terrific Battle for Berlin, in Köpenick, Tasdorf, and so on.... as far as I know the southern-west Part of Berlin.
According to the Wast, he was KIA at an unknow Day in April 45 in Berlin and his now buried in Berlin Spandau "in den Kisseln"...
He was wounded twice during the lat Week (April.4th and April 19th), probably light Wounds and stayed with his Unit ("bleibt bei der Truppe").... He was awarded the TDB in April 27th 1945, and the wound badge in Silber 28th..... As you can see, Assault-Days and CC-Days were precisely reported in the Book until the last Day of the War.... I can read the Signature as "Hauptmann von Wartenberg", Captain and...... Regiment Commander !!! which is not so amazing during the last Days of the War.... Captain Adolf Walischewski wrote in his Tagebook that during the Fights in Hennekendorf and Köpenicker-Bruecke, the 20.Pz.Gren.Rgt. Division Strenght was reduced to....... 90 Soldiers !!!

Of course, I am looking for detailed Reports about these Fights SW Berlin, and I am also looking fior Infos concerning this Hauptmann von Wartenberg (do not mistake with Major Guido v.W., who was KC and KIA nov.44.... )

I have tarnished some Infos from the Book as Copyright.

    Enjoy ! Lionel.

Awesome book....it says so much in such a short time period. Where so many soldiers who began the war barely made rank, this young man literally charged up the ranks!!

Congratulations on an excellent addition to the collection!

Thank you Rick for the Infos you provide me by MP !! Most interesting Docs and Maps in relation with this SB.
Gerdan..... You are completely right.... that is exactly the Book I was talking from.... Thanks for giving me the whole References !!
Jeff.... you are right, I am always surprised, how, in some very hopeless Situaltions, the german Army tried to keep control also on the "Paperwar" !!! Most of all advanced german Paper Collectors have noticed this point at least one time in their Life !!

Thank you Guys for your kind Comments. I also received some great Infos through PM and E.Mails . Most interesting came from Wolfgang, a passionated german historian about the endfights in Berlin. Here it is, first translated in English as good as I can, then original Extract in German :

From Dietwart ASMUS "Die 20.inf.Div.(mot.), Chronik + Geschichte, 9.Teil - VI Abschnitt 1945"

                            Report from San.Fw Rudolf Schneider, 13./G.R.90 about April 23th 1945 :
Extracts : "we are in position at a Road Intersection in Köpenick. We are a Kampfgruppe, from which I actually forgot the Name. The next Day, at the Beginning of the afternoon comes a russian Tank toward us. A Captain, perhaps is it von Wartenberg, destroyed it with Panzerfaust. After half another arrives an another Tank. In the Attempt to avoid his destroyed comrade, he will be destroyed by the same Way. Half an Hour later, the same Scene ahhpens again. Both first Crews wore green Tunics, the latest a black one. On the Evening a russian Bearer announce us, that if we didn't evacuate the Place until next morning, none Prisoner will be made. Thereafter, we retreat over the Spree-Bridge in direction Wannsee"

                            Bericht von San.Fw. Rudolf Schneider, 13. Kp./Gren.
                            in Richtung Wannsee zurück."
