The last acquisition of 2018. A very used Soldbuch, sadly missing the portrait photo and page 1/2 but an interesting piece of Bloody Omaha memorabilia.

He was in the Stab(sbatterie)./ I./ Artillerie-Regiment 352. The I./ A.R. 352 was under command of Major Werner Pluskat, we all know him from the "Longest Day" as the first German who saw the invasion.

The HQ of the I./ Artillerie-Regiment 352 was near Étréham behind Omaha Beach. He survived all the battles in Normandy, was wounded during the retreat in Holland(lazarett 's-Hertogenbosch and awarded the VWA Schwarz) and was taken POW at the end of the war. Most probably Walter Riedel died in 2004.

        Thanks Tom!

Here are 2 death cards. Both young guys were killed at Omaha Beach(Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer and Colleville-sur-Mer). Both guys were also part of the Grenadier-Regiment 916. And a picture of their graves at the German cemetery in La Cambe.
