SS Dog Tag - opinions?

Hello. The SS dog tag shown in the scans has been in my possession for quite some time and surfaced today while tidying up my desk.
I was thinking that I started a thread about it some years ago but couldn't find anything in my thread history.

Does it stand a chance to be original?

So far I have received a clear "not original" opinion and another negative one which referrs to a reputadly non-existing unit (which had existed IMO).

Sorry to say but I think its an old corroded blank that has been restamped. The lack of oxidation around any of the stampings is a red flag to me.

I thought it would look like this after a clean up with a wire brush.

I would be interested to hear what Fronti thinks of this one. The stamping arrangement is unorthodox, but the typeface looks OK. The unit did exist. Where did it come from can you remember?

There was no SS Pi Btl 5 in the Viking, there was only one SS Pz Pi Btl 5. There he lies made a distinction!. This kind of EKM was often enough discussed here.

Hi Lars. You can't compare those two IDs with each other as they are totally different in size, shape and even the letters don't match.
